Emotional Resilience, Best of -Blogs and Videos

Emotional resilience requires three key elements: emotional intelligence, accurate or reflective thinking, and realistic optimism. I say realistic optimism because emotional resilience is grounded in reality.

Unrealistic optimism can lead to taking risks despite the high probability of negative outcomes. When you set ambitious expectations for yourself, you only end up feeling worse when faced with failure.

The disappointment, frustration, and anger are also much greater.

This is why it’s essential that your decision-making is rooted in reflective thinking and an accurate assessment of risks and potential setbacks. This is also why chaos planning is a vital part of developing emotional resilience.

It’s what allows you to prepare for those worst-case scenarios, which gives you insight into the mistakes and obstacles you wouldn’t have initially considered.

In addition to this powerful tool that is inversion, you also want to have a clear understanding and view of what your core values are.

This is another building block of emotional resilience because when your life is not in alignment with your values, your time is wasted on things that hold no meaning or importance to you.

As a result, you’re easily overwhelmed by challenges, and you are less prone to take initiative and rise up to those challenges. Your values define your purpose and when you have that sense of direction, you can find the strength and resilience you need to face adversity and conquer your fears.

These fears, no matter where they stem from, can all be mastered if you are committed to yourself and your personal growth, if you are prepared to shift the narrative of your self-talk from negative and limiting to positive and empowering, and if you are willing to expand your comfort zone. Like all other skills, emotional resilience requires consistency, determination, and discipline.
